12-year-old cyclist hit by vehicle in Richmond, police seeking witnesses – Canada Police Report

Richmond, BC – Police are looking for witnesses after a 12-year-old cyclist hit by a vehicle March 7th. Richmond RCMP is asking witnesses to come forward after a vehicle struck a 12-year-old cyclist as he was crossing the street at a busy intersection Sunday.

The incident occurred at approximately 1230 on Sunday afternoon, in a crosswalk at the intersection of Westminster Hwy and Cooney Road. The boy had apparently just entered the crosswalk at the southeast corner of the intersection when he was sides-wiped by a white Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), which was making a right turn at the intersection.

The suspect vehicle knocked the boy off his bicycle, and EHS later transported him to hospital for medical attention. Police are not releasing details of his injuries. However, he was wearing a helmet at the time. His guardian has been notified.
