The Union of Quebec municipalities has tabled its list of priorities for the Legault government’s next budget with several elements for the economic recovery of the regions.
The vice-president of the UMQ and mayor of Gaspé, Daniel Côté, specifies that many of the requests concern economic files that affect regions like the Gaspé.
We find the financing of public transport, assistance to businesses for robotization and heritage preservation. Also, a request for assistance of $ 300M over 3 years to improve the program on recreational and sports infrastructures, as well as for arenas.
Daniel Côté believes that the government should invest to attract immigrant workers to come and settle in the regions, citing the example of the Gaspé.
