The Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles is welcoming 1,221 students for this fall session, 87 more than last year.

Of this number, 691 are expected at the Gaspé campus and 96 in the English-speaking sector. The school of fisheries and aquaculture in Grande-Rivière will receive 105 students.

The start of the school year is under the sign of COVID-19, while the majority of courses will be distance learning and others will have to take place inside campuses:

The director of studies, Jean Gagné, affirms that the minimum number of courses in attendance will be 20% and this figure will increase for training courses that require internships or laboratories:

According to the director, the institution was obliged to work out logistics for the availability of classes in order to respect social distancing.

Jean Gagné specifies that the CEGEP will receive 73 foreign students this session, but at least 45 others have not been admitted due to COVID-19.
