Boyle RCMP arrest male for robbery and firearms offences

Grassland, Alberta – Boyle RCMP have arrested a 34-year-old male for robbery and firearms offences following an attempted car jacking in Boyle, Alta.

On March 27, 2021 at 5:44 p.m., Boyle RCMP responded to an attempted car jacking at a gas station in Grassland, Alta. Investigation revealed a male suspect pointed a firearm at the victim and subsequently attempted to steal his vehicle. The suspect was unable to start the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving behind a duffle bag containing two additional firearms and ammunition.

Police located the suspect a short time later and was arrested without further incident. No one was physically injured during the incident.

Casey Potts (34) of no fixed address has been charged with:

· Armed robbery

· Careless use of a firearm

· Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose

· Pointing a firearm

· Possession of a prohibited firearm (x2)

· Using a firearm in the commission of an offence

· Possess weapon contrary to order (x12)

Potts has been remanded into custody following an Interim Judicial Release Hearing and is scheduled to appear in Boyle Provincial Court on April 13, 2021.
