The winter conditions of 2020 seem to have less affected the deer population of the Gaspé.
Biologist at the Ministry of Wildlife, Martin Dorais welcomes the results of deer hunting even if the last harvest is far from being at the height of 2015.
In Gaspé, in zone 01 south and 01 north, 334 deer were slaughtered last fall. This is an increase of 36 animals compared to 2019. Martin Dorais hopes that the downward trend observed since 2015 will be reversed.
In addition to a milder winter, the biologist attributes this increase to changes in the dates of bow or crossbow hunting.
