Gaspésie in yellow in mid-March

The director of public health for the Gaspé and the Islands believes it is possible to return to the yellow zone for the region in the week of March 15 with new relaxations.

During the last national press briefing, the government clarified its intentions towards the Gaspésie and Côte-Nord region.

Dr Horacio Arruda mentioned that the scenario of returning to the yellow zone was being evaluated with the directors of these regions in order to look at this possibility in the coming days.

The director of health for the region, Dr Yv Bonnier-Viger, says discussions to return to the yellow zone with various restrictions advances. He specifies that he will propose an easing of certain measures, such as possible meetings in homes.

Yv Bonnier-Viger explains all the same a certain reluctance to the reductions on the gatherings inside the houses. According to him, the second wave of COVID-19 demonstrated that the majority of community transmission, or 40%, came from this kind of encounter.
