IGA Paspébiac & New Richmond tested positive for COVID-19

During a press release from CISS-Gaspesie today it was announced that 4 cases of COVID-19 were identified in the IGA locations in New Richmond & Paspébiac. An article from earlier in the day shed light on 3 identified cases in Paspébiac, just recently it was learned that a fourth case was identified in the New Richmond location.

The Regional Director of Public Health, Dr. Bonnier Viger, is asking the public who may have visited these location between the following dates to closely monitor and watch for any signs of any CoronaVirus related symptoms.

  • Paspébiac: April 1st – April 16th
  • New Richmond: April 9th – April 16th

Symptoms include:

  • Cough, fever
  • Fever
  • Loss of Smell
  • Difficulty breathing

Anyone experiencing symptoms or concerns about their health is encouraged to contact 1 877 644-4545 before going to a testing center.

The epidemiological investigation / Contact Tracing is still in progress. Exceptionally, these cases have been added to the daily report bringing the number to 111 cases for the Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine region.

Finally, remember that the rules to limit the spread of the virus can be summarized as follows:

  • stay at home if you experience symptoms,
  • keep a physical distance of two (2) meters,
  • wash your hands regularly
  • stay at home as much as possible.
