IHIT Investigating Suspicious Death in Burnaby, B.C.

Burnaby, BC – On March 18, 2021 at 1:57 a.m., Burnaby RCMP Frontline members responded to a report of found human remains in a park near the 4300 block of Garden Grove Drive. The circumstances surrounding the remains and the area were deemed to be suspicious and IHIT was called in to investigate.

IHIT is working closely with the Burnaby RCMP, Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the BC Coroner’s Service to gather evidence and complete priority tasks.

“It is very early in the investigation and at this time the priority for investigators is to identify the remains,” says Detective Lara Jansen of IHIT. “The neighbourhood is a mixed-use residential and commercial area and believed to be used frequently, even throughout the overnight hours. Investigators are asking anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam video from the area to contact IHIT.”
