Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick – The New Brunswick RCMP has seized illegal cannabis, money, and over 49,000 illegal cigarettes as part of an ongoing investigation into trafficking of contraband tobacco.

On February 19, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Route 950 in Cap-Pelé, N.B.

Police seized a substantial amount of illegal cannabis, contraband cigarettes, and an air rifle. Police also seized money, and drug paraphernalia.

A 67-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man, both from Cap-Pelé, were arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation and later released pending court appearances on May 14, 2021.

The investigation was conducted as part of a coordinated law enforcement approach that involves resources from the New Brunswick RCMP, as well as the Woodstock Police Force and Fredericton Police Force. These efforts focus on disrupting and dismantling the trafficking of illegal drugs and contraband in our province, targeting those causing the most harm in our communities.

The public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs and contraband. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police.
