The Integrated Health and Social Services Center of Gaspésie says that the region has not suffered a load shedding as is the case elsewhere in Quebec.
In November 2020, the Ministry of Health asked the CISSSs across Quebec to reduce the activities of operating theaters by 50% to free up beds in order to treat patients with COVID-19.
According to the director of professional services, Nathalie Guilbeault, unlike other regions, operating theaters in Gaspésie have continued to operate at 100% since the start of the second wave.
This decision therefore allowed people waiting for elective or urgent surgery to have access to it within the prescribed time limits, with the exception of Maria where the surgeries were delayed due to the outage last spring.
