Parkland RCMP investigate break and enter and arrest two suspects near the Mink Lake Campground


Carvel, Alberta – On March 24, 2021 at 1:53 a.m. Parkland RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress at a business near the Mink Lake Campground. When RCMP officers arrived at the location they observed two suspects running from the business. RCMP officer’s engaged in a foot chase. One suspect was captured and taken into custody. The second suspect was later apprehended by RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) and arrested without incident.

A loaded firearm and ammunition were located inside the suspect’s vehicle. Both suspects were found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Shane Black (26) of Bluffton, Alta. was charged with:

· Break and enter with intent

· Resist/obstruct peace officer

· Possess break-in instruments

· Mischief under $5000

· Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) (x2)

· Weapons offences (x4)

· Fail to comply with release order condition (x7)

Jesse Herman (33) of Bluffton, Alta. was charged with:

· Break and enter with intent

· Resist/obstruct peace officer

· Possess break-in instruments

· Mischief under $5000

· Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)

· Weapons offences (x4)

Both of the accused were held for judicial interim release hearings.

Shane Black was remanded into custody. His next appearance is scheduled for April 7, 2021 at Stony Plain Provincial Court.

Jesse Herman was released. His next appearance is scheduled for April 28, 2021 at Stony Plain Provincial Court.
