Peace Regional RCMP investigating fatal head-on collision on Alberta Highway 2A, traffic diverted – Canada Police Report

Peace River, Alberta – On Feb. 20, 2021, at 9:42 a.m., Peace Regional RCMP received a 911 call of a serious collision between two vehicles on Highway 2A near Township Road 834.

Peace Regional RCMP, along with emergency services, attended the scene and preliminary investigation indicates a head-on collision occurred between two vehicles traveling on Highway 2A. One passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene and three other persons involved have suffered injuries of unknown severity. The name of the deceased will not be released.

Highway 2A is completely closed to traffic between Grimshaw and Peace River and is being diverted to adjacent township and range roads as a result of this collision.

Traffic is expected to be diverted for several hours while the RCMP investigate the collision with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Analyst. RCMP are requesting motorists to avoid the area.
