The announcement by the Government of Quebec to go ahead with the Apuiat wind farm project on the North Shore revives hopes for the wind industry to see other calls for tenders in the future.
Investments of $ 600M will be required for the construction of this 200MGW park. Hydro-Quebec will pay 6 cents per KWh to the Apuiat promoter.
The president of Hydro-Quebec, Sophie Brochu, also suggests that other calls for tenders will follow to obtain wind energy.
For its part, the company Boralex, which was chosen to build the wind farm, sees this announcement as a revival of the wind industry.
Boralex also intends to promote the purchase of components in Quebec, such as wind turbine blades, which could benefit the LM Wind Power plant in Gaspé.
