Strathcona County RCMP investigating serious collision on Highway 16, traffic disruption – Canada Police Report

Strathcona County, Alberta – (8:25 PM) On Feb. 20, 2021, at 6:46 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP received a 911 call of a serious collision between two vehicles on Highway 16 near Range Road 214.

Strathcona County RCMP, along with emergency services, attended the scene and preliminary investigation indicates a pick-up truck that was heading northbound on Range Road 214 proceeded onto Highway 16 into the path of a pick-up truck heading eastbound on Highway 16. The driver and lone occupant of the northbound pick-up truck was taken to hospital with critical injuries. The driver and lone occupant of the eastbound pick-up truck was not injured.

Highway 16 has partial lane restrictions in both the eastbound and westbound directions of travel near Range Road 214. This is expected to continue until all debris is removed from the roadway. RCMP are requesting motorists to avoid the area.
