The coverage of the staffing plan for establishment pharmacists is improving at the CISSS de la Gaspésie.
According to the annual survey of the Association des pharmaciens des establishments de santé du Québec, the Gaspé recorded a shortage of 35% of pharmacists in the establishments of the CISSS de la Gaspésie in the spring of 2020.
At that time, according to APES, 8 full-time equivalent pharmacist positions were unfilled. The staffing plan provides for 23 pharmacists. The CISSS notes that the situation has changed over the past year. Jean-François Sénéchal, deputy director in the Professional Services Department, estimates that the workforce plan is now 90% full. He explains that the CISSS made 3 hires which greatly improved the situation.
