Yukon Update on COVID-19 Amid State of Emergency – November 10, 2021

Yukon Premier Sandy Silver and Dr. Catherine Elliott, Yukon’s acting chief medical officer of health, provide an update from Whitehorse on the territory’s response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. Yukon declared a state of emergency on November 8 in response to a surge of COVID-19 cases in the territory and widespread community transmission in Whitehorse. The Yukon government also announced a series of public-health measures that will be enforced starting November 13, although residents are strongly encouraged to adopt the measures immediately. The measures will be in place until at least December 3, 2021. Yukon is also working rapidly to implement a proof-of-vaccination system for designated non-essential settings.
